Lunch Punishment

The eighth graders have landed themselves in a pot of trouble. As they would because it’s nearing the end of the year and eighth graders lose control then because they stop caring about anything or anyone. It’s not like I’m an eighth grader who still likes to follow rules and has sanity still. Nope.

So yesterday, going to up the stair case, my class was stopped by the eighth grade counselor on the way back from lunch. Some people made looks like, “Why is SHE here?” and others actually tried to move past her. Which only fueled her fury further.

Evidently, she was on the phone with a parent about a student taking an Access Test (for English Language Learners [ELL]) and the parent was startled the amount of in the background during the call. They even asked if there was a rally outside. She could hear us vividly clear from the office which was, to be honest, a little far from the stairs. She said she also stopped the other team before us, which could only be Team B (always ruining things for us [Why did Arco and all my other friends have to be on such an AWFUL team?]), about their noise and they only laughed and got louder as they returned to their classes. Then she said she was going to complain to our Assistant Principal for our grade and ask her to take action.

Immediately.

Because apparently, we are disturbing Team A & B when they are in their classes when we return from lunch and also disturb the administrators. Even when Team B is the MOST obnoxious Team in the whole 8th grade. My problem with all of this was: We were not the sole noise makers. 7th graders are also going to Connections and 6th graders are going to Lunch at the EXACT time we leave back to class.

But that didn’t matter and for one of the first times this year, Mrs. Angelonia was mad at us. It was kind of this long rant about how teachers get no respect from students anymore and how she’s repeatedly warned us that something might happen if we were too loud. Of course, she chilled out and said she knew how we weren’t the only noisemakers but action had to be taken.

So she said that until we get our act straight, we have to be in a single file line, silent, third tile from the wall. If someone talks or is beside someone: Agenda Signature. Simple as that. Until she says not to.

Well, you know, we all thought that wasn’t that bad, we still had our table, and our devices at lunch, and no assigned seats so it was chill.

Guess what happened to today?

It was Early Release today, yet our 8th Assistant Principal sent out an email to all 8th grade teachers active immediately to what Mrs. Angelonia said PLUS We had to walk with our agendas to lunch, Teachers can give detention to people out of line or talking, and teachers should make the decision to either have assigned seats. Luckily, Mrs. Angelonia didn’t want to do the assigned seats thing but the other teachers did. Also Team B was really getting it, strict orders barked by very irritated teachers. But we had to sit at a different table today…?

If we got out of line again, no phones and such at lunch anymore. And if we got EVEN WORSE, she’s cancelling 8th Grade Day.

WHICH IS VERY, VERY BAD  BECAUSE 8TH GRADE DAY IS LIKE PROM FOR SENIORS: A SUPER BIG DEAL.

8th grade day is one of the last days of completely dedicated to 8th graders. We can basically whatever: play sports, video games, dance, play instruments, play on phones, text, having a complete and utter blast.

But I guess that won’t happen if SOME PEOPLE CAN’T GET IT TOGETHER.

TEAM B, I AM LOOKING WITH EYES OF FURY AT YOU.

I feel sorry for Lily who didn’t even experience because she got checked out before lunch today, and Lantana because she’s been sick this whole week not knowing a thing.

And now apparently, two guys (Go figure from TEAM B) were having some type of stupid rally or whatever in the lunchroom to the stairs and a lot of people on their team actually clapped.

THESE PEOPLE ACTUALLY CLAPPED. IT IS LITERALLY THEIR FAULT WE ARE MORE MISERABLE DURING LUNCH. To quote Poppy, “THAT IS COMPLETE AND UTTER BULLSH-T.”

You know what?

I’m actually glad that Arco told me this tonight because:

THANKS ARCO FOR MAKING ME FULLY AWARE OF HOW UTTERLY DAFT YOUR TEAM IS.

Ugh, I’m sorry guys, y’all know I don’t usually use all caps in a yelling type tone but this and other factors in my life are agitating me to no end and I’m typically not that person to be this stressed.

    1. Yeah, I hope so too. It really just aggravated me.
Oh geez, elementary school wasn’t bad for me minus 4th grade where EVERYONE thought that they were mature and started dating like a frenzy. It was uber confusing.
